Logos hold immense power in shaping brand perception and identity in the minds of consumers. Evolving trends and shifting expectations drive brands to modernize their visual identities. This evolution emerges as a necessity for a brand to stay in sync with the times.
Originating from North Germanic roots, the word “brand” stems from the Old Norse term “brandr” (to burn/scorch)—a practice used by ancient cattle farmers who marked their livestock with hot irons to distinguish them from others. In ancient Greece and Rome, stonemasons and potters etched their unique seals onto their crafted artifacts. Later in the Middle Ages, knights emblazoned high-contrast heraldic symbols onto their shields and armor to distinguish friend from foe on the battlefield, laying the very groundwork for modern logo hierarchy. In its most primal form, a logo signifies: “This belongs to me.
What Do Logos Mean to Users?
A logo is the face of a brand. For many users, their first interaction with a brand begins through its logo. The initial perceptions formed in the human mind take shape during this very first encounter. Much like a human face, logos possess their own context and character. From a neurological standpoint, the human brain processes visual information approximately 60,000 times faster than text—solid proof that visual expression is grasped far more instinctively than the written word.
Naturally, a logo does not create magic entirely on its own; however, the chosen color palettes, typefaces, kerning, and even subtle rounded corners convey profound emotion. For a brand, a logo serves as a vessel holding years of collective experience, evoking an immediate sense of sentiment in anyone who sees it.
Developed under the umbrella of Ones Technology, hardware and software solutions within the BioAffix ecosystem reach wider audiences every day. Spanning seven distinct categories, 167 unique hardware devices are utilized daily across Turkey, the Middle East, and Europe. As our product portfolio continues to grow, we believe that not only our technology, but also the corporate and visual identity representing this technology must be primed for the future. With this vision, we decided to thoroughly overhaul the logo architecture of all products under the BioAffix brand umbrella.
Until now, the logo standard for BioAffix products was built on a three-tier vertical hierarchy: BioAffix Logo + Product Family + Product Name. As our product portfolio diversified, this rigid structure presented inevitable challenges—most notably, visual competition. The primary BioAffix logo and the accompanying product family and product name marks ended up competing for visual attention within the same layout. Establishing a single focal point became increasingly difficult, often causing the overall lockup to devolve into visual noise. Excessive production times required to build each lockup and the limitations of having only a vertical orientation were further hurdles.
For BioAffix, the path forward was clear: we had to eliminate unnecessary complexity and find strength in simplicity.
Geometry, Balance, and Harmony
When building our new logo architecture, our starting point was “drawing strength directly from the geometry of BioAffix.” Instead of treating product names as disconnected visual entities, we aligned them directly with the kerning, negative spaces, and core proportions of the BioAffix logo. This yielded a balanced, modern framework that honors the prominence of the master brand without overshadowing the individual identity of each product.
As the master graphic designer Paul Rand aptly stated:
“A logo does not sell, it identifies. A logo derives meaning from the quality of the thing it symbolizes.”
In our new architecture, we did not expect our logos to convey every single detail at once; rather, we set out to define the brand in the right context and with the purest form.
Horizontal Architecture
In this layout, the primary BioAffix logo is placed on the left, flanked immediately by a signature vertical red divider line scaled directly to match the logo’s height. To the right of the divider line, the product family and product name are set in the Mark Pro typeface, renowned for its modern, clean, and timeless character. This configuration delivers an effortless, highly legible, and balanced visual flow across digital platforms, web headers, and wide-format corporate applications.

Vertical Architecture
For constrained printing areas on hardware enclosures, mobile interfaces, and square-like aspect ratios, the BioAffix logo remains positioned at the top. The product family and product name are aligned flush left, adhering strictly to the internal spacing and kerning metrics established by the primary logo.

This modernization is far more than a mere aesthetic touch-up for BioAffix; it represents an operational transformation. Thanks to our mathematically defined standards and proportions, we no longer need to spend hours iterating lockups when the 168th hardware device joins our lineup tomorrow. Instead, we can generate cohesive, production-ready corporate logos within minutes. This new layout—free from competing visual layers—truly embodies the clarity, resolve, and simplicity we champion as a high-security technology provider, reinforcing a profound sense of trust.
Design is not a static endpoint; it is a living process that continually evolves alongside technology. As Ones Technology and the BioAffix family, we remain dedicated to cutting through the noise, amplifying clarity, and delivering the most seamless experience to our users—both across physical hardware enclosures and throughout our digital touchpoints.
